Lori Grace joins NDA from the Long Beach School District, where over her 26-year tenure she developed the talents of thousands of students at Jordan, Renaissance and Poly high schools to their career path in music. She earned her undergraduate degree in music from the California Institute of the Arts and her Master of Education from California State Dominguez Hills. In addition to teaching choir at NDA, Ms. Grace is the minister of music at Calvary Baptist Church of Santa Monica and teaches voice, piano, bass and drums privately. The founder of Lori Grace Music, she developed a non-profit organization called Future S.T.A.R.S. (Standing Tall Above The Rest Successfully), a scholarship for first-year college students.
A highlight of her career is singing a tribute to Aretha Franklin at the Disney Concert Hall with the Inner City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles last summer. She is also the researcher and historian for Heritage Music Foundation, an organization that preserves the history of gospel music, and is working on a table book called The Musicians. She is a proud grandmother and enjoys golfing, exercise, extended stays at the beach and time with family and friends.
