Notre Dame Academy offers students a wide array of opportunities to hone their musical skills. Singers can choose between Liturgical Choir and Concert Choir, while instrumentalists have the opportunity to accompany both groups.
Concert Choir I, II, III, and IV are U.C.-approved courses that enable students to experience the joy of singing in choir, while making friends, developing a strong work ethic, and exploring their musicality. These students perform in Winter Fine Arts Night and the Spring Choral Concert, as well as Choir Festivals and other special events throughout the year. The class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays after school and welcomes singers of all levels.
Liturgical Choir sings at all school liturgies, including the Family Mass in October and the seniors’ Baccalaureate Mass at the end of the school year. Additionally, Liturgical Choir joins Concert Choir at the Spring Choral Concert. The repertoire focuses primarily on contemporary liturgical music, with some more traditional songs added at times. The class meets Mondays for one and a half hours after school.
Any experienced instrumentalist is invited to join Liturgical Choir to play in the instrumental ensemble. Many of these same instrumentalists will be invited to play with Concert Choir at the Winter Fine Arts Night, and they will all play at the Spring Choral Concert. We currently have cello, flute, violin, keyboard, guitar, drums, percussion, harp, and recorder, though other instruments are welcome!
